The Cheetah Enclosure – 6

Choose a resident cheetah to sponsor

Please become a conservation partner and assist us by covering part or all of the annual costs for caring for these non-releasable cheetahs. Each cheetah costs CCF an estimated £2,500 a year in care. These costs include food, veterinary care and pen maintenance.

If you sponsor the cost of the care of a CCF non-releasable cheetah (of your choice!) for £100 or more, you will receive a personal letter of thanks and a CCF sticker. If you sponsor a cheetah at any level, you'll receive a link to a special web page containing up to date news from Namibia including the latest on how our resident cheetahs are doing.

In addition, you can create your own personalised Sponsorship Certificate to print out, and download a special photo poster of your cheetah, taken from the official cheetah ID book in Namibia. Each JPEG poster file is up to 1MB in size and up to 250mm across, and shows pictures of the cheetah, highlighting distinguishing markings for identification.

To create a Sponsorship Certificate, download a poster, or access the latest cheetah news from Namibia, be sure to click ‘Return to Merchant’ after you have completed your PayPal transaction, or you will not see our ‘Thank You’ page, which contains the information required.

If you sponsor a cheetah for a whole year (£2,500) you will receive special recognition at our headquarters in Namibia.

Sponsoring is simple! Just click the 'Sponsor Me' button under any cheetah's story. You will be taken to a PayPal secure payment page, where you can choose how much you want to sponsor your cheetah for. Once you've sponsored one cheetah, you can come back and sponsor another one if you wish. Here are four of our resident cheetahs. See the other pages for more.

Harry

Harry and her two siblings, Ron and Hermione, came to CCF in September 2005 from south of Otjiwarongo. CCF was called by a farmer who had hand-captured two cheetah cubs with a third still out in the bush by herself. The cubs were easily caught, due to their young age and weak condition; it appeared that they had lost their mother. Sadly, her fate remains unknown. The third cub was caught a week later and reunited with her siblings. They are healthy and adapting very well to their new surroundings at CCF.

Harry is named after J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter character, because when "she" arrived she had a small lightning-bolt-shaped scratch under her right eye. She is very shy around people and will wait until her siblings, Ron and Hermione, approach people before joining in the fun. Harry is very golden in colour with dark eyes and is only slightly smaller than her brother, Ron.

Ron

Ron and his two sisters, Harry and Hermione, came to CCF in September 2005 from south of Otjiwarongo.

Ron is named after one of the characters in the popular books by J.K. Rowling and although he appears to be the most aggressive, he is the most gentle of the three siblings, so long as there is a meat treat involved. He is the most dominant, and often chases his sisters around the pen for play, preferring to chase them than chasing lures. Ron's distinguishing marks are his kinked tail and almond-shaped eyes, which are a very light amber colour. He has a very laid-back personality and is very well behaved.

Hermione

Hermione and her two siblings, Ron and Harry, came to CCF in September 2005 from south of Otjiwarongo.

Hermione is named after one of the characters in the popular books by J.K. Rowling and is the smallest and darkest of the three siblings...and the most playful. She has a small teddy bear face and big dark eyes, by far the cutest of the three. She is very gentle by nature, but not as much as her brother Ron. She tends to follow Ron's lead during feeding. Hermione is the most social and will chase her brother and sister around the pen even though she is much smaller. She is an instigator, but able to hold her own.

Athos

Athos, and his brothers, D'Artagnan and Porthos, were about eight months old when they arrived at CCF after their mother, one sibling and two other adults were shot. The three cubs are inseparable, and it was inevitable they would become named after the brave fictional "Three Musketeers" characters.

Athos puts up a brave and entertaining show at feeding time. Naturally shy, he puts on a fierce face. With a fuzzy little growl, he tries to convince you he's not intimidated at all.

Porthos

Porthos, and his brothers, Athos and D'Artagnan were about eight months old when they arrived at CCF after their mother, one sibling and two other adults were shot. The three cubs are inseparable, and it was inevitable they would become named after the brave fictional "Three Musketeers" characters.

Porthos always hangs out with his brothers, Athos and D'Artagnan. Like his brother D'Artagnan, Porthos is very shy, grabbing his food and dashing to the far side of the enclosure before eating.

D'Artagnan

D'Artagnan, and his brothers, Athos and Porthos were about eight months old when they arrived at CCF after their mother, one sibling and two other adults were shot. The three cubs are inseparable, and it was inevitable they would become named after the brave fictional "Three Musketeers" characters.

D'Artagnan is the clown prince of the musketeers. He is very shy and wants nothing to do with people. Even at feeding time he approaches his bowl reluctantly and tries to grab a hold of his meat without taking his eyes off the scary humans. On one occasion, his bowl was located next to the water bowl and, thinking he was grabbing dinner, instead got a face full of water.
