E-letter No 1
to CCF UK supporters,
June 2005

Dear Friends of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) in the UK...

First of all, many thanks you to all of you who supported CCF by attending one of the events held during our Executive Director Dr Laurie Marker's annual Spring Visit to the UK.

Laurie will return to the UK again next May (12-22nd), so keep an eye out on our website calendar. We hope that those of you who missed out this year can manage to attend an event next year!

CCF now has a brand new CCF UK website (special thanks to CCF UK volunteer and webwizard Richard Elen): www.cheetah.org.uk .

The site sees the launch of our new and long-awaited 'Sponsor A Resident Wild Cheetah Programme' - a way to donate to CCF in a very specific way, to support (at this time ) 28 resident, non-releasable cheetahs who are all being cared for by our staff in Namibia. They live in very large enclosures and are well treated but for many reasons cannot be released back into the wild. Each has quite a story to tell and you can support them individually by name. Each cheetah costs us over £2,500 a year to care for, so as you can imagine, every little helps.

This is a wonderful way to support CCF - we need your help to care for these cheetahs and to allow us to continue the larger work of saving the other cheetahs in the wild. Please visit the new site and help us!

The new website also offers a means to buy everyday items at some of your favourite UK retailers - from Sky to Marks & Spencers, to Norwich Union, to Amazon UK - whilst at the same time supporting CCF: we receive a commission on every purchase you make, and the prices are often below those you'll find in the High Street! Visit Buy.at/cheetahs for more details.

Additionally, you can support CCF by purchasing a fine art wildlife photo-print by CCF supporter Michael Wain.

As you may know, these are difficult times financially for many animal charities, with the weakness of the US Dollar making American donations worth so much less. We do need your help more than ever to save this magnificent cat from extinction. We look forward to your support!

We intend to send this e-letter only to those in our database who have expressed an interest. To be removed from this list, email uk@cheetah.org, and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
