CCF Encourages Namibian Farmers
to Join Training Courses

From the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation

Date: 2006-10-17

The Cheetah Conservation Fund, CCF, encourages emerging commercial farmers in Namibia to join the Integrated Livestock and Predator Management training courses it is offering next month.

The week-long comprehensive training course targets farm owners who would like to improve their production systems and come to terms with predators on their land.

Topics include herd health, nutrition and veterinary care to improve production, selection of cattle with the emphasis on functionality, the economics of livestock management to reduce losses, strategic planning for farming operations and rangeland management.

It also focuses on the selection, raising and training of livestock guarding dogs, predator identification and behaviour as well as track and kill identification.

The CCF has presented 10 courses this year for over 250 communal and emerging commercial farmers and has had a positive response from participants.

The Cheetah Conservation Fund is a Namibian non-profit trust dedicated to the long-term survival of the cheetah and its ecosystems.
